Development Director – Philanthropy

About the role

The Development Director (Philanthropy) provides strategic leadership for Impetus’ philanthropy and stewardship portfolio. Reporting to the Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the role focuses on relationship management, renewal, growth and selective new‑business activity with high‑value funders.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the overall fundraising strategy into actionable stewardship, renewal and relationship‑growth plans.
• Oversee the donor lifecycle across the philanthropy portfolio, ensuring strong retention and engagement.
• Lead and support six‑ and seven‑figure donor relationships and selected funding opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Partnerships team to maintain a robust pipeline and effective account‑management discipline.
• Work closely with corporate partners, trusts, foundations and high‑net‑worth individuals to secure and grow philanthropic income.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in philanthropy, fundraising or donor relations within the non‑profit sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high‑value donor relationships and drive income growth.
• Strategic thinker with strong collaboration skills across internal teams.
• Commitment to the mission of supporting disadvantaged young people in education and employment.
