Duty Manager - Overnight Shift

About the role

The Duty Manager acts as the property manager on duty and oversees all property operations during the overnight shift at a Le Méridien hotel in Oran, Algeria. The role ensures the highest level of hospitality and service during the night, represents the property in resolving guest and property issues, and personally assists in resolving problems and completing tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor property operations and ensure compliance with all guidelines to operations
• Ensure staff are in proper uniform and grooming standards, and that they work in a safe environment
• Manage period-end inventories
• Review financial statements, sales and activity reports to measure productivity and identify cost-reduction and programme-improvement areas
• Assist in resolving guest issues received directly from guests or through Guest Relations
• Support accounts receivable, keeping invoices due below 60 days, and help process chargebacks and rebates
• Ensure proper cash handling procedures and monitor overages and shortages
• Manage employee hours and work with the leadership team to prevent the recurrence of guest issues
• Promote safety programmes, monitor attendance and record absences and tardiness
• Keep staff informed of new procedures and standards, assist with performance reviews and counselling, and encourage employee relations
• Ensure staff know emergency procedures and assist the operations manager in processing weekly payroll

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major
• 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping or a related field, or 2 years with a degree
