General Manager – Arable Farming (Algeria)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead large‑scale arable farming operations across Algeria. This senior executive role oversees the full crop production cycle, from land preparation to post‑harvest activities, and drives strategic growth and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead arable farming operations covering 25,000+ hectares, managing land preparation, planting, harvesting and post‑harvest processes.
• Develop annual crop production, land‑use and rotation plans for cereals and fodder crops such as wheat, barley, maize, alfalfa, silage corn and sorghum.
• Drive yield improvement, cost optimisation and operational efficiency through modern farming practices.
• Oversee irrigation, water‑resource management and sustainable farming initiatives.
• Implement precision agriculture, digital farm‑management tools and mechanisation programmes.
• Manage budgets, supplier contracts, equipment procurement and overall financial performance.
• Build and lead multidisciplinary agricultural teams while ensuring HSE, environmental and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with dairy, livestock, procurement, finance and supply‑chain functions to support integrated operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in arable/crop farming, including at least 5 years in a senior GM‑level role.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale farming operations (25,000+ ha preferred).
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience handling large agricultural budgets.
• Experience in North‑African, Middle‑Eastern or arid/semi‑arid farming environments.
• Fluency in English; Arabic and/or French are a plus.
