Heart of the House Supervisor

About the role

The Heart of the House Supervisor leads the back‑of‑house team at Marriott’s Algiers property, ensuring seamless cleaning, banquet support and kitchen assistance. This full‑time role combines hands‑on supervision of stewards with coordination of banquet and buffet operations to maintain high standards of hygiene and guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and assist stewards to maximise cleaning efficiency, monitoring water temperature and chemical levels.
• Support banquet plate‑ups, transport stock, and ensure adequate supplies for buffet service.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing machines, hand‑wash stations, pot‑scrubbing stations and trash compactors.
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff by providing needed items and performing miscellaneous tasks.
• Return cleaned items to proper locations and manage inventory of back‑of‑house equipment.
• Collaborate with management on hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and coaching team members.
• Enforce safety, security and uniform standards, reporting incidents and completing required certifications.
• Welcome guests, anticipate service needs and maintain professional communication.
• Perform physical duties such as lifting up to 50 lb, standing for extended periods and moving on varied surfaces.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum two years of relevant hospitality or food‑and‑beverage experience.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, water temperature control and sanitation standards.
• Ability to operate commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment.
• Strong organizational and team‑leadership capabilities.
