National MICS Consultant – 12‑month Remote Role with Travel

About the role

The National MICS Consultant will support UNICEF Algeria and the Ministry of Health in preparing, implementing and disseminating the MICS7 household survey. The 12‑month consultancy is remote‑based with regular travel across Algeria and occasional regional workshops.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all phases of the MICS7 survey, from design to data collection and reporting.
• Provide technical guidance to the Country Office and national partners on survey methodology and data processing.
• Organise and facilitate training sessions for field staff and data analysts.
• Oversee data quality assurance, conduct statistical analysis and draft the final survey report.
• Support the use of Computer‑Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) tools and ensure proper data capture.

Required profile

• University degree (Master’s preferred) in demography, statistics, epidemiology or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing quantitative household surveys, preferably MICS or DHS.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills in Arabic and French; strong English proficiency is a plus.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Algeria and attend regional workshops.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills and solid expertise in statistical analysis.
• Proficiency with SPSS for data processing and analysis.
• Experience with CAPI data‑collection systems.
