Generator Winder – Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance

About the role

The Generator Winder is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the electrical and mechanical components of generator stator and rotor windings. You will work in a fast‑paced industrial environment, supporting the Winding Work Leader to ensure high‑quality winding operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mechanical and electrical tooling, including stationary belt or disc sanders.
• Assist in taking and recording measurements of stator and field components.
• Support fiberglass tapping activities.
• Perform daily point‑of‑work risk assessments and safety observations.
• Record and report daily time and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Set up tooling and parts as directed.
• Execute Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures according to site policies.
• Carry out additional duties requested by Working Leaders and GE Vernova.

Required profile

• High school diploma or technical college diploma with at least 2 years of industrial maintenance/electrical training, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the power generator industry.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work rotating shifts.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, stand or walk up to 12 hours, and lift up to 22 kg.
• Willingness to complete hearing and respirator evaluations on hire and annually.
• Capability to read and interpret technical instructions and comply with all safety policies.

Required skills

• Operating mechanical and electrical tooling.
• Using stationary belt and disc sanders.
• Performing Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
• Measuring with inside/outside micrometers and dial calipers/indicators.
• Reading technical instructions and documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
