Generator Winder

About the role

The Generator Winder is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the electrical and mechanical components of generator stator and rotor windings. You will work closely with the Winding Work Leader in a fast‑paced industrial environment, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mechanical and electrical tooling, including stationary belt or disc sanders.
• Assist in taking and recording measurements of stator and field components.
• Support fiberglass tapping and other winding‑related tasks.
• Perform tooling and parts set‑up as directed.
• Complete daily point‑of‑work risk assessments, safety observations, and LOTO procedures.
• Record and report daily time and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Required profile

• High school diploma or technical college diploma with at least 2 years of industrial maintenance or electrical technology training, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the power generator industry.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work rotating shifts.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, stand or walk up to 12 hours, and lift up to 22 kg.
• Willingness to undergo hearing and respirator evaluations on hire and annually.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mechanical and electrical tooling, including belt/disc sanders.
• Ability to use and read measurement devices such as inside/outside micrometers, dial calipers and indicators.
• Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Capability to interpret technical instructions and documentation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Industrial winding shop experience.
