HSE Specialist

About the role

ABB is seeking an HSE Specialist to drive health, safety and environment excellence across multiple sites and projects in Algeria. Reporting to the Business Manager – Commercial and Operations, you will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, ABB standards and international management systems while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate HSE risk assessments with line management and shop‑floor staff to identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
• Conduct site inspections, HSE audits and compliance reviews against regulatory requirements, ABB standards and ISO management systems.
• Report incidents, support investigations and lead corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE procedures, work instructions, safety plans and operational guidelines.
• Deliver training, raise awareness and promote safe behaviours across operational teams.
• Monitor and report HSE performance, sustainability objectives and key performance indicators.
• Support managers in understanding legal obligations, company requirements and effective risk‑management practices.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to enhance HSE performance.
• Ensure availability and proper use of safety equipment, tools and management systems across sites.
• Plan, coordinate and execute HSE improvement projects, managing objectives, resources and progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSE management within industrial or process‑automation environments.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Ability to work onsite and interact with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Excellent analytical, communication and training skills.
