National Consultant Public Health Specialist

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Consultant to serve as a Public Health Specialist for its COMPASS MPF Phase II project in Algeria. Working under the Chief of Mission and in close coordination with IOM’s IBG Programme Officer and Migration Health Officer, the consultant will provide technical advice to strengthen public‑health and environmental surveillance in southern Algeria.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate outreach activities with the Ministry of Health (MoH), regional health authorities, WHO and other partners to align with national health priorities.
• Liaise with the MoH to obtain and confirm technical specifications for the procurement of a mobile laboratory and related equipment.
• Provide technical guidance on public‑health surveillance, data collection, and analysis related to migration‑related health risks.
• Support the design and implementation of protection‑sensitive health interventions for migrants, including women, unaccompanied children, trafficking victims and persons with medical needs.
• Contribute to reporting and knowledge‑sharing on health outcomes and project progress.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine or a related field.
• Proven experience in public‑health programming, preferably in migration or humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with the Algerian health system and ability to work with national authorities.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.

Required skills
