Senior French Reviser (Fixed‑term, 364 days)

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi is seeking a Senior French Reviser for a 364‑day fixed‑term contract. The incumbent will work within the French Translation and Text‑Processing Unit of the Translation and Editorial Section, supporting the production of high‑quality French documents for UN programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit French translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with UN style guides.
• Collaborate with translators, editors and programme staff to resolve linguistic issues.
• Maintain terminology databases and contribute to the development of translation resources.
• Provide feedback and guidance to junior revisers and translators.
• Participate in quality‑assurance processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in French translation and revision.
• Strong knowledge of United Nations terminology, conventions and editorial standards.
• Excellent written French and English communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in French language editing and revision.
• Familiarity with translation memory tools and terminology management.
