Protection Assistant – Caseworker

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Protection Assistant to support its Protection and Migration Development (PXD) team. The role focuses on delivering assistance to victims of human trafficking and other vulnerable migrants, ensuring that interventions respect informed consent and humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Support the PXD team in delivering assistance aligned with protection principles and informed consent.
• Assist the Senior Caseworker in conducting gender‑sensitive, child‑appropriate interviews with potential victims and vulnerable populations.
• Assess beneficiaries' assistance needs and report findings to the Protection Officer.
• Prepare regular case‑management reports and ensure accurate data entry for all beneficiaries.
• Help organize events on victim identification, referral, and protection topics.
• Liaise with stakeholders to establish referral pathways and mechanisms.
• Participate in periodic and ad‑hoc project meetings.
• Apply the Do No Harm framework throughout all activities.
• Maintain confidentiality of personal information in line with IOM data‑protection rules.
• Report on activities clearly and meet all deadlines.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of protection principles and humanitarian best practices.
• Experience conducting interviews with vulnerable individuals in a gender‑sensitive manner.
• Ability to assess needs, document cases, and produce clear reports.
• Excellent organizational and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
