Commis Cuisine

About the role

A full-time, non-management commis cuisine position is available at a hotel in Oran, Algeria. The role covers the preparation and cooking of food according to recipes, quality standards and presentation standards, and includes kitchen cleaning and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, and prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and a food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods to check they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality.
• Set up and break down the workstation and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment, and check appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow company and safety policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a clean, professional appearance.
• Work in a team, respect quality expectations and perform other reasonable duties asked by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods and to lift objects up to 25 pounds.
