Fiber Network Planner – Damascus Based

About the role

The company is seeking a senior Fiber Network Planner to join its team in Damascus, Syria. The role focuses on planning and optimizing DWDM and optical transport networks, ensuring capacity, protection, and diversity across backbone, metro, and inter‑site links. Candidates must be willing to relocate and work closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop DWDM and optical transport plans covering wavelength allocation, channel mapping, OTN, and equipment sizing.
• Design and validate optical paths, protection schemes, diversity, regeneration, and ROADM/OADM configurations, including CDC‑F ROADM.
• Analyse traffic demand, IP/MPLS requirements and translate them into transport capacity plans.
• Review existing inventory, fibre routes, shelf/card/port capacity and maintain accurate as‑built records.
• Coordinate with fibre planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors and implementation teams to align plans with physical routes and service needs.
• Produce implementation‑ready documentation, migration plans and risk assessments for capacity exhaustion, route diversity, and optical impairments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in DWDM/OTN/optical transport planning or engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to work under delivery pressure while maintaining accuracy.
